Speech by Mr Yamashita Hotei at the 5-8 Dec 2023 Tokyo Fengshui Calligraphy Exhibition

 

Hello everyone,

大家好,

I am honored to be here. I am Yamashita Hotei from Osaka. Nice to meet you.

我很荣幸能认识大家。我是从大阪来的山下方亭。请多多指教。

Now, when it comes to Singapore, there is a newspaper called Singapore Calligraphy News by Mr Tan Siah Kwee. I met him at Mr Luo Pengpeng’s exhibition, who’s from Beijing Fine Art Academy’s Department of Arts and Seal Carving. That newspaper is my source of information about Singapore.

说到新加坡，有一份叫《新加坡书法报》的报纸，由陈声桂先生主持。我是在北京艺术院篆刻艺术院的骆芃芃先生的个人画展上结识的。那份书法报是我唯一的新加坡信息来源。

Because I’m not familiar with Master Yun’s style, I actually have no information about Master Yun. So I asked him to send me photos of Master Yun’s works. When I saw the works, I was truly shocked.
因为对云龙子大师的画风完全不了解，实际上，我完全不认识云大师。于是我请他把大师作品的照片发给我。当我看到这些作品时，真的感到震撼。

They incorporate seal script idioms into a variety of colors. I also write seal script, so I can read these seal script characters. These characters float within the paintings, and I was truly amazed by the teacher’s works.
这些作品在多样的色彩中融入了篆书成语。我也写篆书，我能读懂这些篆书。这些字浮现在画中，对老师的作品真的是非常震撼。

The characters appear in a mysterious swirl. The teacher’s expression and what I feel might differ. However, the works feel out of this world, as if they belong to another dimension.
这些文字出现在奇妙的漩涡中。老师的表达方式和我感受到的可能不同。然而，作品好像来自另一个世界，感觉这些作品属于那个世界。

I learnt a new method in the world of seal script expression. Today, not through mobile images, but by actually seeing many works, even though I can read seal script, it’s the first time I’ve seen this form of expression. I was really a bit surprised.

我学到了篆书的另一种表现方式。今天不是通过手机里的照片，而是实际欣赏许多作品，虽然能读懂篆书，但这样的表达方式也是第一次见，真的有点震撼。

Moreover, this profound world, this worldview, what kind of feeling does it give everyone? In my opinion, I really felt an unprecedented art. I wish the teacher continued success in the future.

此外，这个幽玄的世界，这种世界观，给大家带来什么样的感觉？我的感想是，真的感受到了前所未有的艺术。也祝愿老师大展宏图。

天娑王子殿下、云龙子大师、晋欧老师、各位来宾您好！

感谢您今天来到日中友好会馆美术馆。我是中日友好会馆的中国代表理事，黄星原。

衷心祝贺这次展览会的举办，非常恭喜你。

如各位所知，今年是中日友好和平条约签订的45周年纪念。五年前，两国承诺世代友好。这不仅是对中日两国，也是对亚洲、内地及全世界开启了新的一页。

我们有幸欣赏到新加坡著名风水师云龙子大师的作品。我感受到了一种似曾相识的亲切感。

来会馆任职之前，我曾两度在美国和欧洲担任中国大使。那里的多姿多彩和波光粼粼的海洋让我印象深刻。云龙子先生的作品也将鲜明的色彩与常中的技巧结合起来，呈现在一幅画作之中。我认为这真是太棒了。

我认为这些作品象征着充满希望的每一天和光明的未来。

最后，作为45周年的纪念，我们应该为世界的团结与和平努力。希望能进一步增强日本、中国、新加坡、柬埔寨的友好关系。

His Royal Highness Prince Tesso, Master Yun Long Zi, Master Jin Ou, dear guests, hello.

Thank you for coming to the Japan-China Friendship Centre gallery today. I am Representative Director at the Japan-China Friendship Centre, Huang Xingyuan.

I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations for the launch of the exhibition today. Sincere congratulations.

As you all know, this year marks the 45th anniversary of the peace treaty between China and Japan. Five years ago, a promise was made to maintain friendly relations forever. This has opened a new chapter, not just for China and Japan, but also for Asia, the Mainland, and the whole world.

We have the privilege of viewing the works of Master Yun, a renowned fengshui master from Singapore. It feels familiar, as if seen somewhere before.

Before assuming duty here, I had twice served as the Chinese ambassador to the United States and Europe. The vivid colours and the dazzling ocean I saw there left a lasting impression on me. Master Yun’s works also combine vivid colours with enduring techniques and are presented in a single painting. I think it's truly wonderful.

I believe these works symbolise hopeful days and a bright future.

Finally, as a commemoration of the 45th anniversary, we should focus on the unity and peace of the world. I hope to further enhance the friendly relations between Japan, China, Singapore, and Cambodia.

THE MANY Awards And Recognitions of Master Yun and Lotus On Water Part 4

A remarkable year for Master Yun and Lotus on Water! Master Yun and Lotus on Water continue to receive more awards and recognitions from all over the world. 

THE MANY Awards And Recognitions of Master Yun and Lotus On Water Part 3 was published in early of 2023. And now our Part 4 is also a long lists of awards and recognitions.

Just before the mid of 2023, Master Yun went to Qing Dao China to attend The Sixth Public Welfare Ceremony 第六届公益事业大典. Master Yun received The Welfare Award.

Master Yun's painting was on the stamps again! Stamps from Netherlands, France and Belgium! Beautiful stamps for collectors of Master Yun's paintings and avid stamp collectors. How I wish to have these stunning stamps added to my stamp album too!

If you are in China Beijing, you will also see Master Yun being featured on the big screen of the IT HUB 北京中关村.

Master Yun was also invited to attend a meeting at the National People's Congress Conference Center 全国人大会议中心 in China Beijing in July. It is an honour!

Soon after, Master Yun was awarded Tens Years of Glory-Fengshui Culture Most Respected Innovative Figure of the Times and another award for Tens Years Glory- Promoting the Development of the National Cultural Industry with outstanding contributions.

Master Yun's calligraphy painting was exhibited at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum and he was awarded the “SPECIAL SELECTION AWARD 特选奖” by Japan’s Sankei International Calligraphy Association. Master Yun received awards from Japan for three consecutive years in a row! Fantastic!

A special award for Master Yun's Chinese Calligraphy Painting 凤舞九天. 

And famous elities like 晋鸥老师、吴超老师 and many other cultural elites and academics from Japan and China had great admiration for Master Yun fengshui calligraphy. It was even a great honour that we have, from the Japan Chrysanthemum Throne, Her Imperial Highness, The Princess Takamado, who presided over the award giving ceremony. This is definitely a great recognition!

Right after, The Sino Chinese Business Times 《日中商报》 reported on Master Yun's Fengshui Calligraphy exhibited in Japan Calligraphy Grand exhibition at the Tokyo Metropolitan Musuem.

For the second time, Master Yun received another flag of china from the Beijing Tian An Meng Square 天安门广场.

Master Yun received awards and recognitions one after another. The Yongding and Dapu Clan in Kedah State gave Master Yun an appointment of “Permanent Honorary Advisor".

The most amazing exhibition of the year is definitely at the China Beijing Great Wall of China, where 69 pieces of fengshui calligraphy were exhibited on this Seven Wonders of the World. Master Yun is the first artist to be invited to exhibit his works on the Great Wall of China, first ever in the history of mankind!

This is Master Yun's second exhibition on the Great Wall of China. Clients of Lotus on Water, together with their friends and family members went all the way to the Great Wall of China to witness this grand event and even the Cambodia Royal Princes and Princesses graced the event. What a great honour for both Master Yun and Lotus on Water!

The most major China press including 人民日报 People's Daily, 中国日报 China Daily, 新华社 Xinhua News Agency, and 60 over other channels reported on Master Yun’s Great Wall fengshui calligraphy exhibition!

Master Yun's fengshui calligraphy and paintings exhibitions did not end at Beijing Great Wall of China. Master Yun went on to exhibit his artworks all over the world. Before the year end, Master Yun was invited to to Japan Tokyo to hold another exhibition at the Japan-China Friendship Center from 5 to 8 December. Many extraordinary individuals graced the event! It is wonderful to have earned the recognition of the Japanese too!

Master Yun has great achievements and recognitions all over the world but he continues to share his inspirations to many people. A Calligraphy Exchange with members of the Singapore Teachers' Art Association and the Penang Art Association in Penang was held at Master Yun's Penang residence right after the Japan tokyo Exhibition. Several local artists and Singapore art teachers attended the sharing in Penang.

Master Yun was also being interviewed by journalists from the Oriental Daily at his Penang's home. There are ten layers on Master Yun's calligraphy. He showed samples of every layers and shared about his inspiration and method of every layer.

And now ...... Master Yun's calligraphy exhibition was being featured on New York Times Square big screen.
