Inspirations from the First Lotus Guan Yin

 

Perhaps it's the blessing of this unique lockdown season, that we are connected once again with the first Lotus Guan Yin.

The first Lotus Guan Yin is carved from fine green and lavender jadeite, is placed in Master Yun's house even till today, and is the one that blessed Master Yun from nothing to everything.

Since Master Yun is working from home in this period, new Lotus collections purchased are blessed in Master Yun's house, in the presence of the first Lotus Guan Yin. Such unique blessings! Probably this is the brilliant period to up your fengshui, have your next Lotus collection for your future and fortune.

As we reconnect with the first Lotus Guan Yin, I do think that there are several inspirations and lessons we can learn from Her, especially during this period.

"This Guan Yin does not hold a lotus in full bloom, but a lotus in bud (which is not typical). Like a bud that blooms into flower that has yet flourished, it has brought grace and glory that were beyond what our eyes could see. It is a bud of faith."

 

This is the season to have great faith, to achieve what we cannot see, to plant the seeds of prosperity for our future and fortune.

"We have heard stories from the 'Journey to the West' of how Guan Yin descends from the sky to bring blessings and assistance to people. I have never seen her literary coming down from heaven and I wonder how many people have seen that."

 

Sometimes, we might be expecting blessing to come in the exact way we imagined, to be delivered right into our hands. But blessings might come in opportunities, rejections, or even a Facebook post. Some clients bump into our Facebook posts, and decided to get started with their first Lotus jadeite. We need to extend our hands to receive these blessings.

"But her blessings always come in an inspiration. It comes with a voice, asking for actions of faith, sometimes a leap of faith."

Zodiac Guardian for RAT: Thousand Hands Guan Yin 千手观音

The Thousand Hands Guan Yin 千手观音 is POWERFUL. With 42 artifacts/treasure/weapons, she covers pretty much everything from chasing away evils, good health, to stunning harvests and prosperity.

 

Some might know that the Lotus jadeite pendant version of the Thousand Hands Guan Yin 千手观音, is carved in the image of the 4th Lotus on Water Guan Yin, the sandalwood Thousand Hands Guan Yin -- which is also the Guan Yin that brought us VICTORY, the Guan Yin that wins big with little.

Sun essence hand, alleviates those of clouded vision with light

Moon essence hand, saves those who suffers from illness of heat, blesses them with cool and comfort

Surely, these two powers are very pertinent in the world today. But I think they also represent something more metaphysical, like yin and yang, day and night.

FUN FACT: Master Yun is born in the year of the RAT; the Thousand Hands Guan Yin 千手观音 is also his zodiac Guardian.

Master Yun once shared with me:

1. Thousand Hands Guan Yin with her 11 ELEVEN heads and faces of different expressions, some ferocious, some compassionate, some wrathful...you just have to have different faces to deal with different people. Because some people just continuous refuse to learn from compassion.

Fortunately for us, we have been blessed with a lot of benefactors and great clients all these years.

 

2. That would explain about her many artifacts, including weapons. Just like how Vairocana Buddha 大日如来 (for Goat and Monkey) also has his Acalanatha Bodhisattva 不动尊菩萨 (for Rooster).

 

3. It is VERY difficult to carve Thousand Hands Guan Yin crystals. Other than only the finest crystals reserved for Buddha and Deity sculptures, the manifestation of Thousands Hands also takes up a lot of raw crystal, and a lot of wastage for just one sculpture. Because Lotus on Water starts from the source, so we not just have one, but quite a selection of crystal Thousand Hands sculptures.

Master Yun says, maybe that's why he feels such a connection with Thousand Hands Guan Yin. And he feels, and knows, Thousands Hands is constantly protecting and blessing him.

Rosy, in Wealth and Harmony

Perhaps it's due to the super-clarity of the rose quartz. Rose quartz tend to be opaque. Something like this, once in a blue moon. No, "pink" moon.

Or maybe it's the warmth that shines through, leaving even me amazed by its beauty.

Don't get me wrong. Lotus on Water crystal sculptures are all prosperous and elegant in their own right. Just that some are more special. Some, are more recommended.

Beautiful as this roze quartz Guan Yin might be, what can we use it for?

 

As a crystal mountain of course. To activate the mountain star/energy of a place (READ HERE if you have no idea what I mean).

And more. Rose quartz has special blessings. It is especially strong in prospering relationships and benefactor lucks. The harmony of the family and with people in business. 

It is also pertinently powerful in the 9th cycle fengshui (year 2024-2044). In the 9th cycle, the SOUTH shall be the most prosperous. The SOUTH is represented by the FIRE element. Things, businesses, directions associated with FIRE shall be most auspicious. And rose quartz is one of them.

Let The Gold Shine: A Case For Citrine Mountain

By now, I think we all know that:

3. Citrine is the better choice for crystal mountains, in terms of types of crystals carved from

 

When it comes to choosing a mountain for your house/office, for both present and future mountain spots, citrine is the top choice. It is most powerful in bringing out the mountain energy, for stronger benefactors, relationships and health. 

 

And real citrine is very, very rare. Most that you see in the market, are heated/tampered/fake. Which means the internal structure is broken. There is no power left.

Guan Yin, and Her Dragon

7 August 1959, Taiwan had her worst flooding disaster in the 20th century. Thousands of lives were lost, hundred of thousands more were forced to leave their homes. And as this mass exodus took place, it was recorded that strange and colorful clouds loom over Zhang Hua's Wu river (彰化乌溪) -- on it, was Guan Yin dressed in white, standing on the back of a majestic dragon.

The flood soon subsided.

Those of us who are more well-versed with Buddhist manifestations would know that each of the four major Bodhisattvas has a well known mystical being as the ride, or mount. Like Guan Yin and her dragon. Like Samantabhadra Bodhisattva (普贤菩萨) and her six-pairs-of-tusks white elephant. And Manjushri Bodhisattva (文殊菩萨) and her golden-maned lion.

At first look, it seems only to be the Bodhisattva and the ride. A pet, a powerful creature as a pet at most. But is it? Guan Yin could have manifest by herself without the dragon or just on a rainbow cloud to subdue the flood, but why bring along her dragon?

We know from the sutras that their mystical rides represent certain values of the Bodhisattvas. Like Manjushri's lion shows his sternness and strength, his fearlessness in spreading the dharma. And Samantabhadra's elephant, a representation of the Bodhisattva's diligence.

So it is symbolism then? But that doesn't explain why Guan Yin's dragon has to be involved in alleviating the disaster. There must be a "functional" aspect to the dragon.

According to the "Saddharmapundarika Sutra" (《妙法莲华经》), there are 8 departments of guardians (天龙八部). The second department is the "dragons 龙众". Other than being powerful and high-order beings, the dragons are guardians to Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, they also have specific tasks, like overlooking the seas, thunder and rain -- I am sure all of us are definitely familiar with the dragon kings of the sea 海龙王.

We can say this: Guan Yin is the will and command, and her dragon is the way and action.

This is a yin and yang equivalence. Lao Zi 老子, the founding father of Taoism school of thoughts, left 81 chapters of wisdom -- the Dao De Scripture 道德经. Dao 道 is the laws of the universe, nameless, formless; De 德 is the path that one can follow or act upon, the deeds, in accordance to Dao.

One can be engulfed in the Dao, but cannot truly internalize and experience Dao without practicing it. One can practice the De, but if there is no belief in the Dao, the De would be a mere form, without soul.

Dao and De are the yin and yang, 2 sides to the same coin. Important, and indispensable. 

Perhaps this is the correlationship of Guan Yin and her dragon. The Dao and the De, Guan Yin and her dragon, the yin and the yang. Embodying the spirit of Guan Yin, and practicing her ways, letting her WILL manifest in our mortal lives, letting her dragon subdue our floods and bring in waves of blessings and prosperity.

The yin and yang, both important, both indispensable. 

I have many clients who own beautiful Lotus jadeite Guan Yin pendants, or Lotus jadeite carved with dragons. Some blessed few have both, both Lotus jadeite Guan Yin and dragon pendants. So what can you do to up the power of your jadeite Guan Yin? Add the yin to the yang -- have yourself a powerful Lotus jadeite dragon to execute Guan Yin's blessings. And if you have only the dragon, add the WILL and COMMAND into your actions, have yourself a Lotus jadeite Guan Yin.

14 years after the flood, 19 June 1973, a U.S. recon jet flew past the Taiwan skies. The weather was clear. But looming clouds appeared suddenly in a distance. Dark, thunderous clouds brewing, but visibly strange shines of rainbow emanating. 

The pilot took photos of this enigmatic occurrence. In the developed photos, they found the silhouette of the guardian who manifested 14 years ago -- Guan Yin and her dragon.

My Lotus Crystal Guan Yin - the Quarrels and the Prosperity

I wanted to make this decision but I want to give it a chance. Hence, I ask my Lotus advisor for the cure and he said you can consider a Crystal mountain but it's either you will quarrel even more or just forget about the whole issue. I thought why not go ahead, since there's a 50% chance of getting it solve.

But I was not interested with the Crystal mountain options that my Lotus advisor gave even though they are well within my budget. There's always something that I wasn't pleased, like the shape, carving, size and so on. Then he asked me if I wanted to choose one from the Buddha/Guan Yin Crystal sculptures. A very clear picture of what I  want, formed in my head and I asked: Is there a Guan Yin whom is in sitting position. To my surprise, there is one which is slightly above my budget. I fell so much in love with the clarity, the rainbows and smiling Guan Yin carving that I placed the payment immediately.

Master Yun gave two installation dates, one is the stronger one, for which I will have to take on and handle this stronger effects if I choose this. I thought why not go ahead, have the courage to take it on.

In the immediate days and weeks after the installation, quarrels with my husband intensified. We quarrel about little things, like placement of things, he got sick with gastric problems, and went to A & E. We even quarrel in the Lotus gallery. I started to question my decision, what my purpose of installing a Lotus on Water crystal is? I remembered on the day of installation, my Lotus advisor also mentioned that crystal mountain helps to improve career progress, wealth accumulation and I may move to a bigger house. And so, I started to dream what kind of career improvements my husband and I can have.

He have better bonus, better reviews, better and more customers. I had more overseas business trips, better reviews and more job opportunities. I gain happiness and insights about life. I joke more with my husband, did more sharing, building better relationship. Then, one of the Lotus client and friend of mine asked me why did you get the Lotus Guan Yin as the crystal mountain? I started to think very hard and couldn't recall exactly why. Oh, so I really forgot about the whole issue like what my Lotus advisor said? I then remember something about quarrels, oh, I decided at that time why not go ahead, get the Lotus cure and put off the divorce.

When she asked, it gives me the idea to share my answer here, my experiences, the anxiety before the happiness, the dark storms before the sunny rainbow, the turbulence waves before the calm sparkling sea. My husband still continue to receive better reviews, better bonus, better and more customers. I am in an engineering job that I desire, learning and gaining surprising recognition. TIP: How to Win on Your 1st Day of the New Year. And by "New Year", I mean 4 February 2015.

A more and more open "secret": 4 February 2015 is the real deal, the real Chinese New Year.

Not 19 February 2015, which is the 1st day of the 1st lunar month - this is according to the lunar calendar (calendar taking reference from orbit of moon around earth), this is important, but still not the real beginning of the Wood Goat year 乙未年. 

4 February 2015 is what we call the Start of Spring 立春. This is according to the solar calendar (calendar taking reference from earth's orbit around sun). And fengshui energies take reference primarily from the solar calendar.

Ever wonder why winter solstice is always on 22 or 21 December every year? Because winter solstice also takes reference from the solar calendar, not the lunar calendar.

4 February 2015 is the first day of the Wood Goat year 乙未年 - this, we already know. What about 1 day before, what about 3 February 2015? 

3 February 2015 is 15th of the lunar month. For every 1st and 15th of the lunar month, Lotus on Water unveils the majestic sandalwood masterpiece "Dharma Service on the Holy Mountain 灵山法会" in the Exquisite Jadeite Gallery. Some of you have the fortune to see and breathe this holy centerpiece.

3 February 2015 is the last solar day of Wood Horse year 甲午年. The "Dharma Service on the Holy Mountain" is also unveiled on this day. This will be the last unveiling of this holy and prosperous gathering of the Wood Horse year 甲午年. And we are just one day apart to the start of a new year.

Throughout these years, I have always advised: wear your new Lotus collections before 4 February, before the Start of Spring. So that when the new year arrives, you are in the best position to receive the good Qi. You don't lose at the starting point. Start your year right, prosperity in sight.

Even more so for this year. Ponder this: what happens if you wear your new Lotus collection on 3 February 2015, last day of Wood Horse year, in front of the last unveiling of the "Dharma Service on the Holy Mountain", and you continue to wear it over to the first day of the Wood Goat year, 4 February 2015?

When you put on your new Lotus collection in front of the "Dharma Service on the Holy Mountain" on 3 February 2015, you gather the remaining Huat Qi of the Wood Horse year with you, and you bring it over to the first day of the new year on 4 February 2015. It's a rollover, it's an accumulation, it's what we call 接气 - continuation of the Qi. 

Let the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas bless you from the end of this year, to the start of next year.

We don't get this every year. It is not an annual affair that we get to carry over the last Qi of the "Dharma Service on the Holy Mountain" over to a brand new day, a brand new year. When you put on your new Lotus collections on 3 February 2015 at the Exquisite Jadeite Gallery, you are not going to start the Wood Goat year blankly. You are starting it with a bang - a holy one, with the last breath and blessing from the last unveiling of the "Dharma Service on the Holy Mountain". 

You get to prosper from the end of this year, to the start of next year.

This is really one year of starting-your-year-right that you don't want to miss.

I strongly advise all followers of the Lotus to enjoy this privilege.
