Meditation During the Seventh Lunar Month

As the Seventh Lunar Month begins, Singapore is filled with prayers, and the air is permeated with the scent of incense. Known locally as the Hungry Ghost Festival, it is also referred to as the Ullambana Festival. In the Mahayana Buddhist tradition, this day is marked by ceremonies to honour the Triple Gem and to liberate suffering souls, with an emphasis on reverence for ancestors and repaying the kindness of one’s parents, thus promoting filial piety.

The Ullambana Festival carries profound cultural and spiritual significance, imbued with deep emotions. It aligns with the Confucian tradition of valuing filial piety, which is why it has been encouraged and widely observed by Chinese emperors throughout history. The festival began during the Northern and Southern dynasties, and by the Tang dynasty, it had become a prominent celebration, enjoyed by both officials and the public. It is popular in East Asian countries where Buddhism is practised, such as China, Korea, and Japan. The festival transcends time and place, celebrated on a grand scale, intertwining ancient beliefs, unique customs, and family bonds, thus promoting the continuity of culture.

The Ullambana Festival, observed on the fifteenth day of the Seventh Lunar Month, is also known as the Buddha’s Joyful Day. Its origins can be traced back to the Buddha’s faithful disciple Mulian (Sanskrit: Maudgalyayana) saving his mother. According to the Ullambana Sutra, Mulian, after attaining enlightenment, could observe the three realms. Through his divine powers, he saw his deceased mother suffering in the realm of hungry ghosts. He quickly offered her food in a bowl, but just as it reached her mouth, it turned into ashes, leaving her still hungry. He recounted this to the Buddha, saying: “Although she was my mother in this life, I wish to save her from suffering as a way of repaying her for raising me.” The Buddha advised that Mulianalone could not save her; he needed to rely on the collective spiritual power of offering to the monks on the fifteenth day of the Seventh Lunar Month. On that day, Mulian’s mother was freed from the torment of the hungry ghost realm. The scripture concludes that everyone can follow this practice.

This year is the Year of the Wood Dragon, and since each month is associated with a Chinese zodiac sign, July is also the Month of the Monkey, corresponding to the twelfth Earthly Branch shen, which belongs to the metal element. If your favourable element is metal, then congratulations! The original meaning of shen is lightning, depicted in oracle bone script as a flash of lightning, which gradually evolved into the idea of extending or connecting with a higher spiritual level.

A flash of lightning streaks across the sky, and after the thunderstorm, our ancestors discovered that trees caught fire due to lightning. In the ashes, they found food and gradually learnt to preserve fire, fend off wild animals, and grow crops, eventually cooking their food. Human civilisation truly began with the mastery of fire. When our ancestors saw lightning during a storm, they perceived it as unpredictable and powerful, considering it a sign of divine will and inspiration, and they would symbolically accept the mandate of heaven with both hands.

This divine mandate marked the beginning of a thriving human lineage, fostering a civilisation that has flourished for thousands of years. Such a mandate represents a sudden enlightenment that drastically changes one's life. For the Chinese, July is a month when the divine lightning brings abundant inspiration. Can you perceive and seize the will of heaven?

This July, we too should meditate with open hands. You might focus on Master Yun’s fengshui paintings or calligraphy, holding sandalwood beads in your left hand and grinding a white duan stone with vermilion in your right. With each circle you grind, utter your prayers, and with each bead you push forward in your left hand.

You can use sandalwood, which helps inspire creativity and is a must-have during the ninth fortune cycle of twenty years. It complements your Lotus jadeite and agarwood, boosting your indirect wealth.

Place the white inkstone in an auspicious position in your home to attract benefactors and aid in meditation.

The Lotus jadeite Zhong Kui has been a popular item in Lotus on Water since its inception. Zhong Kui’s righteous and fearless divine power instils confidence in many people. The mysterious power associated with his legend has inspired many clients.

Additionally, you can wear agarwood, which has the ability to absorb good energy, and convert bad energy into opportunities

Have you meditated this July?

Highlights of Chinese New Year Live Celebration: 尤发大哥 and Wei Wei exploring Master Yun fengshui calligraphies and the white inkstone Master Yun fengshui world

Congratulations to Lotus on Water to another successful Chinese New Year Live Celebration! Amazing prizes were dished out to several lucky viewers, Congrats to them too! Of all the highlights of the event, I would like to bring you to a sharing between 尤发大哥 and Wei Wei as they explore Master Yun's fengshui art with you!

Currently, Lotus on Water has few silk paintings left, 尤发大哥 and Wei Wei has some recommendations, we have the “日月同光”. Master Yun acquires high quality materials to ensure that the collectors of his art would receive the maximum amount of benefits from his fengshui paintings, that's why he would onl buy silk from a close friend who is an fashion designer, Eric Raisina.

Painting on silk is no easy feat as Master Yun paints on RAW silk as it is rougher than the silk that we usually used for clothing. This shows Master Yun is always thinking about his clients and would want to give the best to them.

Sharing on the fengshui calligraphies

“日月同光” means that you are shining your brightest together with the Sun and the Moon, describing the inner strength and character of a person. So when you own a "日月同光" art piece, you will have the positive energy as strong as the Sun and Moon combined together, helping you to achieve success day and night and attract benefactors as powerful as the Sun and Moon.

With just a few paintings of this series left, now is the best time to leapt at the opportunity to have the honour to own Master Yun's fengshui paintings. Furthermore, collecting Master Yun fengshui paintings is not just for yourselves, but also for your future generations to also prosper as much as you did.

So do contact Cola at 8137 8024 to find out more about the Sun and Moon series of paintings and see which one is suitable for you and your family!

Wei Wei recommends the inkstone she is holding

尤发大哥 and Wei Wei also talked about the white inkstones as they are very important for house fengshui. "一白遮三丑" , this means the white inkstone would protect you, getting rid of the malefactors while attracting many benefactors into your life.

Wei Wei loves white inkstones a lot. She meditated with her white inkstone, grinding the red vermillion inkstick (inkstick is FOC when you buy the white of inkstone) on the stone, wishing for all the good people to come and help her in her predicament which did happen!

White inkstones are very rare as there is only a 1/1000 chance that white inkstones can be unearthed, carved and used for house fengshui purposes.

Wei Wei mentioned that the whiter the white inkstone is, the better. To meditate, we just need to grind the red vermillion inkstick on the white inkstone while saying the positives things that you want it to happen.

Oh, and do you know that the red vermillion inkstick is the same red vermillion that Master Yun uses to bless your lotus collection? So as you meditate, you are using top notch quality materials. We are very grateful to Master Yun and Lotus on Water taking care of us!

To find out more about white inkstones, do contact Cola at 8137 8024 to find out where can you place your white inkstone and which one is suitable for you!

Stay safe, stay Huat!

Lotus on Water Celebrates CNY 2022:《心运灵光门庭凤,经传宏业天上龙》之日月明心 PART2

Previously, we talked about the first statement of 2022 CNY Reblessing "心运灵光门庭凤", let’s look into the second statement.

So it reads: 经传宏业天上龙

The word "经", is more than mere scripture. It’s canonized as a CLASSIC. And "Classics" are remembered and inherited by generations.

CLASSICS, will be about everlasting values and principles, about the virtues and great deeds that had been done, and should be emulated.

And that’s just like how the exemplary dragon has risen to the heavens, a calling followed by plenty, a destiny endeavored by many.

Imagine, just like the Great Wall of China, at the top ridges. Even though Qin Shi Huang 秦始皇 had passed on, thousands of years ago, his monumental deeds had been elevated as an undeniable tale, a legend, a CLASSIC.

So, how about this 2022?

How are you going to allow and accept the CLASSICS and rise like a dragon?

How about, capturing the ever (and even more) powerful blessings of Master Yun, especially with 54 never-before Heart Sutra seals?

After all, the "Heart Sutra 般若波罗蜜多心经" is definitely a CLASSIC. And that’s why Master Yun is using this special set of seals by Xiling Seal Art Society 西泠印社 grandmaster 晋欧 to boost powers of our blessing vermilion.

Question: which Lotus collection to best allow you to rise like a dragon in 2022?

How about: Lotus White Inkstone, and your Lotus sandalwood?

We know, your White Inkstone, that’s for victory, power and benefactors. 2022 is a grand year, but are the benefactors coming to you? Secure them with your Lotus White Inkstones. In fact, get TWO. Ask your Lotus advisors why.

Which is probably why, Lotus on Water has decided to EARLY RELEASE the sandalwood dragon pendant. I hearsay, this sandalwood dragon, carved in year 2015, was supposed to be released only in 2024 — the Year of the Dragon, but due to the crazy demand for sandalwood, there is no choice but to release in advance.

After all, it is KEY to have a lot of sandalwood from year 2021 and onwards.

Stay tuned for PART 3.

Museum in Lotus Special: Winter Solstice Event Part 3 Hsun-ok

Master Yun always incorporates new and interesting concepts into his re-blessing sessions. And this Winter Solstice event was no different. Let us find out more with Ashley and Mr Pino!

Ashley (A): Thank you again Mr Kan and the Little Tigers. This is the last session of our mini Museum in Lotus. Ok, Mr Pino, let us share with them a little bit about these two things that if you have been with watching with us so far, you would have noticed that when Master Yun was doing his reblessing and the sword display performance, he was actually using the top of the sword, which is so called the dragon head to point inwards to this, this item. I will let you explain what is this.

Mr Pino and Ashley Explaining the Hsun-ok's Material

Pino (P): Yes.

A: From there he was actually throwing this (throwing the flower petals into the air). Much more beautiful than the way I throw anyway. Pino, would you share with them more about this. Is very unique. A golden colour, a red colour and it seems like the material itself is very different.

Pino (P): I would like to summarise by saying that tonight we have presented three different objects.

A: Yeah.

P: From three different countries.

A: Yes.

P: We have presented something from India. We have presented something from Japan and now this is from Burma.

A: Which is Myanmar as well?

P: Correct!

A: Modern days.

P: What they actually have in common is the dating that they are all the 19th century.

A: Ok, more than a century for all these items. Oh my god! The way I touched it is like......

P: What they were used for? First of all, these were called the Hsun-ok.

A: Hsun-ok, Ok.

P: Now we can see that these have been used since the 13th century in Burma and these are offering containers which actually ladies either wearing them on top of their heads or around their arms bringing into the monastery.

A: Ah yes, because Burma or Myanmar is Buddhist countries right?

P: Correct.

A: We have seen like a lot of monasteries all over the countries.

P: Yes.

A: In Yangon, in Mandalay, in Bagan. These are something that they bring. And to put their offerings inside.

P: Yes, to put their offerings.

A: Ok.

The Gold and Red Hsun-ok

P: Now, why would they bring this to the monasteries? And to the monks?

A: Yes. It was like....very possible. Haha.

P: To gain merits. This was the reason.

A: Ok.

P: Now what did they contain? They contained actually food.

A: Ok.

P: So they were actually feeding. It was an act of charity towards the monks.

A: Oh, yes, yes, yes.

P: And only the very wealthy family would be able to afford to buy something like this.

A: Only very wealthy family.

P: Only very wealthy family.

A: I see.

P: The differences between the two of them is evident. First of all, I would like to underline that this one in red is more rural. It's not as refined. It's not as beautiful. It's not as accurate as the other one.

A: Ok.

P: This is made of bamboo rattan.

A: Ok.

P: And on the top of this, we will see a beautiful fennel and this would be reminiscing of the monasteries in Burma. Very similar to them .

A: Yes, but that's pretty heavy actually.

P: Yes.

A: How can they ever carry this on their head?

P: But can I say women when they are devoted. When they are doing something for merits, they will carry anything even if it is heavy.

A: Yes, I mean if this were to bring me merits, you know, to bring my husband prosperity and home harmony. I will do everything even if it was 100kg .

P: Yes, you will do it. And when we look at this, this has at least 13 layers of lacquer.

A: Oh they painted 13 layers?

P: 13 but after they basically layered the lacquer, they would sort of been sandpapered. But it's not sandpaper. It's a different kind of technique that they use.

A: Right.

P: At the end, it would be completed.

A: Ok.

P: The beauty about this piece.

A: Yes.

P: If we see the red lacquer, we see also some black.

A:Yes.

P: Because some of the layers were actually black.

A: Ok.

P: And this difference that we see of the black and the red is so called Negoro. The Negoro effect. Negoro is a Japanese word.

A: Ok

P: And collectors will go crazy for something like this.

A: Wow, how about this? This would be made of wood?

P: This is a rural one. I would say that.

A: So those live in the cities would use that.

P: Right , these would be in cities. This is actually made out of wood, more refined .

A: Wow!

P: Now, you just look the difference. Here we have the gold and we have here beautiful symbols. And it is very detailed.

A: Ya. very very exquisite.

P: And inside it's also red.

A: Red signifies a lot of good things for Asians.

P: And then we would see that red is a sign of prosperity. then extremely beautiful, extremely tale.
again very wealthy family. and to gain merits. aesthetically extremely beautiful.

A: yes and for you guys to be watching us, having Master Yun's blessings and stuff, I like to bring your attention to some other items that Lotus has. And I also want to introduce to you, Mr Pino.

P: Yes.

A: This is something that's just as exquisite as these Hsun-ok that Mr Pino has mentioned. And these are actually what we call as the white inkstones and these are used by the emperors in ancient china. What they do with these  are not to hit the head of of their servants or maids or you know, try to kill someone with it. No, these are not marbles for information right? These are actually something that they will actually placed on the tables, study tables and use the ink , you know, something like that.

Ashley Explaining the Use of The Imperial White Inkstone

A: So if you where to purchase this from Lotus right, we'll be sharing or rather giving this thing we call it in mandarin the 朱砂墨. Ok, it's actually made of vermillion. As can see on this exquisite piece, the red lines on top, these are actually the red vermillion threads, right?

A: So, these are something that I can relate to hsun-ok. Is because first of all, its very exquisite you know? These are used by the well to do families, emperors and empress, and secondly, instead of getting merits through offering of food you can have your wishes come true. When you do this inking on the white inkstone. So, if you were to put it at the right direction and meditate, you manifest about whatever you want,  like to resolve conflicts with colleagues, you know, better relationship with, or maybe like bigger business opportunities, right? you just have got to think of it to manifest on this, right?

A: Constantly but remember the key thing is right direction. So you have got to call Cola to find out alright. These are some items that you can use for your permanent fengshui and yeah I will just think that is this something that every home will have and should have and when you have a business or an office, it's also a very good item for you to possess, so there we go, Mr Pino, this is the end of our session.

P: Thank you very much, thank you

A: I really enjoyed the session and great learning session,  thank you.

P: Thank you

A: So back to you Mr Kan.

I hope that these special sessions of Museum of Lotus has brought you greater understanding of the unique artefacts in Lotus on Water and how they link with Master Yun's re-blessing session. Therefore, your re-blessed collections will become even more powerful and infused with more prosperous energy!

So, what's in store for us in this 2021 Metal-Ox year 辛丑年?

It has been a while since I blogged, if you don't count my rather long Facebook posts...time after lockdown has been super intense, and the achievements we unlocked (gaming lingo) unimaginable and magical. All the awards, the Great Wall of China fengshui art exhibition...it's really not something that can be attained by copying others. Imitation is soulless. So are the words of imitators, hollow.

The leap of Lotus on Water in 2020 Metal-Rat year 庚子年 is beyond exponential, it's fueled and propelled by years of solid work and a passionate spirit. Luxury requires a passionate spirit. Our future and fortune require a passionate spirit.

Our blessings require a genuine and passionate spirit.

But I digressed.

2021's January flew by just like that. The first time in many years that I did not conduct annual fengshui talk for large groups. But gave me and my people a chance to speak to clients one-to-one, and understood more intimately their aspirations and concerns for this year. Of course, we were also busy with post Winter Solstice celebrations, and catching up with Great Wall exhibition.

So, what's in store for us in this 2021 Metal-Ox year 辛丑年?

Last year, we predicted that 2020 Metal-Rat year 庚子年 was going to be a "watershed year" (http://bit.ly/3tTEhgd). My urge to Lotus clients was: "2020 can be a very challenging year. But it can also be the one that 'serves you a new hand of cards' -- a watershed year, and you determine where your river shall flow."

I am glad that many of my beloved clients chose victory and prosperity, despite knowing the difficulties that lay ahead. And even gladder to know that they have done surprisingly and spectacularly well, despite the treacherous "weather".

Victory and prosperity truly belong to those who choose to believe, choose to be associated with the best and authentic, and take action.

2021 Metal-Ox year 辛丑年, it's going to be a glorious year. It is going to be a year full of grand opportunities, especially for my clients in Singapore. It is going to be a year when the world's richest and most powerful gather in Singapore, set up homes and bases.

It is also going to be a year of never-before intense competition. Those who thrived in 2020, the survivors, would go all out to capture these deals, these opportunities.

Question is, would you be able to capture them?

Hardly have we advised clients to lie low, wait, be fatalistic...not even in 2020.

2021 is really the time to bring out the big guns. Time to be geared up with your Imperial White Inkstone, time to hang your Master Yun fengshui painting, time to be equipped with your sandalwood and agarwood left and right, time to secure your benefactors with your mountains...time to go big.

Time to GO BIG. Time to WIN.

We might have passed the Start of Spring 立春, and that in itself makes it even more important and urgent to revisit what we haven't done, and get it done already. Your home and office fengshui, your personal luck...we see many new clients buying their Lotus Heaven and Earth jadeite rings, their agarwood, right after their first Lotus jadeite pendant, very very happy for them! Very happy that they chose to be their very best!

If you ask: if I have to choose, what should I focus on?

For the house, I say: Mountain, Painting, White Inkstone.

For yourself, I say: Lotus Rings, Agarwood, Sandalwood.

We have highlighted the powers of each of these collections on many occasions. Of course, it's best for you to possess them all. They work together, forming a web of prosperity and elegance.

Still, now is the time to check what you have, and what's the next one you can go for. And as you would have already known, that would depend on what's still available too. Speak to us.

Have a glorious 2021.

-- Kan, Executive Director
