Recently 2 new citrine mountains arrived at the gallery. One of which
was a simple piece with a pair of mandarin duck carving signifying loyalty of
benefactors and the other was a perfect orb with 2 beautifully carved lions
standing on the orb.
When I first saw the 2nd piece, I remembered someone once shared with me
that we cannot place lions in our house unless we are in the government sector
as it symbolizes authority and protection of the officials. Thus I decided to
clarify with Mr. Kan of this 'theory' and to my surprise, this 'theory' is not
true.
Stone lions were first placed in temples because it was believed that
only the roar of a lion - the king of beast, was able to reach the far ends of
the heavens thus informing every holy one to react to the cries and prayers of
all the believers who went to outpour in the temples. Thus it is actually very
good to have this kind of beast at the entrance of the place we make our
prayers and offerings to the heavens.
So should we all start scattering around to find stone lions to place at
the entrance of our homes so that our prayers will be heard by the heavens? No.
Lotus Treasures act like these lions, giving our desires and meditation
the extra boost that it reaches and touches the heavens and miracles start to
happen.
